Easy Outdoor Gazebo Kits Roof Calculator – Instant Quotes & Material Lists
Please enter your information into the gazebo roof calculator to determine the number of shingle bundles and the amount of premium synthetic underlayment you will need.
The calculator will also determine how many sheets of plywood are required (to be provided by others) by measuring the square meters and taking the roof pitch into account.
An additional 15% is included to account for waste during installation. Enter your postcode to receive a complete quote, including the cost of freight.
Three additional areas have been added to facilitate the calculation of complex roof designs. You can also use this gazebo roof calculator to determine the required number of shingle packs and underlay for a home. It’s also useful for converting the roof area (based on plan measurements) to pitch in square meters.
If you’re using the gazebo roof calculator on your phone, tap a cell twice to enter text. Only fill in the green cells.
Please be patient — The calculator may take up to 30 seconds to fully load.

Increase Your Roof Space with Our Gazebo Roof Calculator
Using our gazebo roof calculator, you can extend the roof size beyond the existing frame by using 17mm F8 structural plywood. We have successfully increased the roof size by up to 500mm from the rafters, transforming a 3x3m gazebo into a 4x4m gazebo and providing significantly more space for you to enjoy. For more details, please refer to the plywood application manual below.

Plywood (Provided by Others)
We recommend purchasing the plywood personally, as delivery fees can be quite high. Your local supplier can assist you in selecting the appropriate type. We prefer 12mm A-Bond F8 Structural Plywood, 2400mm x 1200mm, available at Bunnings and similar stores. To properly attach it to the gazebo rafters, Australian Standards require that nails penetrate 50mm into the rafter. Therefore, 70mm galvanised nails (2.5mm in diameter) are suitable. Refer to our detailed guide for gazebo roof installation. Engineers, Architects, Builders, and savvy homeowners can also refer to the Ecoply Plywood Application Manual.
Synthetic Underlayment and Shingles
When roofing a house, underlayment and shingle nails are usually secured through the plywood. However, this method can appear messy from underneath when applied to a gazebo. Instead, use staples to hold the synthetic underlayment in place. Work on one section at a time, and choose a day with light winds for the best results. For detailed guidance, refer to my comprehensive roof replacement guide for our shingle system, which also applies to new outdoor roofs.
Tip: When installing the shingles, use an 8G 15mm Galvanised timber button-head (flat-head) screw. This way, nothing will be visible inside your gazebo. The image below shows a nail, but the same technique applies to a screw as well.

Measuring the Pitch/Angle of a Gazebo Roof
An easy method to measure the pitch of a gazebo roof is by using our roof pitch calculator, which is optimized for mobile phones.
Complex Gazebo Designs
For multi-sided gazebos, consider using Blocklayer’s Gazebo Roofing Calculator. It is very useful for determining rafter spacing and layout.
