Plywood (By Others)

We recommend buying the plywood yourself, since delivery costs are usually high. Your local supplier can help you choose the right type. We prefer 12mm A-Bond F8 Structural Plywood, 2400mm x 1200mm, available at Bunnings and similar stores. To attach it to the gazebo rafters, Australian Standards require nails to go 50mm into the rafter, so 70mm galvanised nails (2.5mm wide) will work. Synthetic Underlay and Shingles

On a house roof, underlay and shingle nails go through the plywood, but on a gazebo, this can look messy from below. Instead, use staples (or glue) to hold the synthetic underlay in place. Tip: When installing the shingles, use an 8G 15mm Galvanised timber button-head (flat-head) screw. This way, nothing will be visible inside your gazebo.
